Andrés Spokoiny es un líder comunal judío de larga trayectoria con un historial de liderar transformaciones organizacionales exitosas. Se desempeñó como CEO de la Federación CJA en Montreal y, antes de eso, Andrés trabajó para el American Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) en París, donde fue responsable de varios proyectos paneuropeos.

Mientras estuvo en JDC, Andrés también se desempeñó como Director de Leatid Europe, un instituto de capacitación de liderazgo para líderes comunitarios y dirigió el Centro Internacional para el Desarrollo Comunitario, una asociación de JDC y la Universidad de Oxford que produce investigación aplicada en temas comunitarios.

Andrés trabajó tambien para IBM y fue responsable de capacitación, desarrollo, contratación y reclutamiento para la Región Sur de América Latina de IBM durante un período de importante reestructuración.

Originario de Argentina, Andrés tiene una formación académica multidisciplinaria que incluye estudios empresariales, educativos y rabínicos en diferentes instituciones alrededor del mundo. Habla con fluidez hebreo, inglés, francés, español, portugués y yiddish, y domina el ruso.

Es colaborador habitual de publicaciones relacionadas con la filantropía, la vida comunitaria, el judaísmo y la gestión de organizaciones sin fines de lucro. También es el presentador del podcast de filantropía "What Gives". Publicó su primera novela,

"El Impio" en 2021 (publicada por Penguin Random House-México).

Notes from a Liminal Time

This Substack is driven by a simple frustration: too many conversations today are loud, moralized, and shallow at the same time. The spaces in which ideas can be discussed with intellectual depth are increasingly rare and often inaccessible.

Here, I write about contemporary Jewish and global issues, Jewish identity, antisemitism, philanthropy, community, and, at times, philosophy and science. The scope is intentionally eclectic.

These essays are addressed to readers interested in a deeper, more nuanced engagement with our moment, one that resists moral grandstanding and reflexive outrage, favors historical perspective and conceptual rigor, and refuses to treat complexity as a moral failure.

I engage in muscular polemics and intellectual guerrilla tactics when necessary. But the premise of this page is that, at times, it is also essential to slow down and think seriously. The underlying belief is simple but unfashionable: even in an age of clickbait and epistemic chaos, the effort is still worth it.

Who is this for: While some of the posts may sound like “inside baseball” for Jewish leaders and activists, this is for anyone—Jewish or not—interested in the forces reshaping communities, societies, and the world writ large. In sum, anybody who’s intellectually curious and unafraid of complexity.
